Use a $0.65 postcard-rate stamp for an eligible domestic postcard and a $0.82 ordinary Forever stamp for an eligible domestic letter up to 1 ounce.
Current difference
The difference is $0.17 per piece under the USPS schedule effective July 12, 2026. For 100 qualifying pieces, face-value postage is $65 for postcards versus $82 for one-ounce letters.
Postcard eligibility
A postcard design or card stock does not automatically qualify. Measure the finished card and check thickness, shape and other USPS standards.
When a Forever stamp works
An ordinary Forever stamp may be used on a qualifying postcard, but it overpays the postcard rate. A postcard-rate stamp does not by itself cover a one-ounce letter.
Avoid bad combinations
Two postcard stamps pay $1.30, not the exact one-ounce letter rate. Add valid denominations based on the actual required postage rather than the number of stamps.
