The 2022 James Webb Space Telescope Forever stamp and the 2026 Crab Nebula Priority Mail stamp are different USPS issues. Neither official release record proves future investment returns.
Identify the two issues
USPS issued the James Webb Space Telescope Forever stamp on September 8, 2022, in a pane of 20. USPS records 30 million stamps and credits designer Derry Noyes. The 2026 Crab Nebula issue is a Priority Mail stamp released February 24, 2026, in a pane of four.
Keep NASA imagery and postal identity separate
NASA or STScI imagery can be source material, but USPS is the stamp issuer. A telescope illustration is not the same object as a later stamp using a Webb deep-space image.
How to assess collectible value
Confirm the exact issue, unused or used state, gum, centering, faults and provenance. Compare completed sales for the same item and condition, with sale date and fees. Asking prices are not completed-sale evidence.
Investment boundary
A USPS issue date, print quantity or space theme does not establish scarcity, a buying frenzy or guaranteed appreciation. A September 2026 search did not yield a stable set of comparable completed sales supporting such claims.
Sources and update note
Issue facts and current postal rules should be checked against the linked primary sources. Prices, inventory, services and policies can change.
