One ordinary Forever stamp covers an eligible domestic letter only through 1 ounce. A 2-ounce letter costs $1.11 under the USPS schedule effective July 12, 2026.
Choose the postage combination
Use one ordinary Forever stamp plus one 29-cent additional-ounce stamp to pay $1.11 exactly, or use other valid stamps whose total reaches the required postage. Two ordinary Forever stamps pay $1.64 and therefore overpay.
Check the finished envelope first
The letter must stay within 11.5 by 6.125 by 0.25 inches and 3.5 ounces. Square, rigid, uneven or clasped letters can be nonmachinable and add $0.49; pieces outside letter limits must be priced in another category.
Do not tape over a stamp
Apply an undamaged stamp with its own adhesive. Do not cover it with tape, because a covered or altered stamp may not be accepted.
Rate table
$0.82 covers up to 1 ounce; $1.11 covers 2 ounces; $1.40 covers 3 ounces; and $1.69 covers 3.5 ounces. Weigh the sealed piece rather than estimating from paper alone.
