How to make a USPS shipping label online
- Choose the package service and confirm it is available for the destination and contents.
- Enter complete sender and recipient addresses.
- Weigh and measure the sealed package, including packaging.
- Select the eligible service, delivery options and any extra services.
- Review the ship date, address, weight, dimensions and total before paying.
- Print the label or select an available Label Broker option.
- Attach it flat, keep the barcode unobstructed and use an allowed deposit method.

Costs and service-specific labels
The price is calculated from the service, zone or destination, weight, dimensions and selected extras. “Prepaid label” means payment has already been completed for the information on that label; it does not mean one label works for any package. If Media Mail or another restricted service appears, verify both content eligibility and the current online workflow.
Before depositing the package
- Do not cover the barcode with glossy tape.
- Remove or fully obscure old shipping labels and barcodes.
- Use the ship date and deposit route allowed by the current service.
- Keep proof of purchase and acceptance when the shipment warrants it.
Voids, refunds and mistakes
Do not manually alter a paid label to fix an address, weight or service. Use the provider’s current void or refund workflow and create a correct label. Refund eligibility and timing differ by product and provider, so the live transaction rules control.
